One in Ten Buyers Do Not Instruct A Home Survey - The Industry Must Do More to Promote Home Surveys

Recent statistics reveal that only 10% of homebuyers commission a home survey, leading industry experts to advocate for better awareness and promotion of the service. Without a survey, homebuyers may face unexpected financial and structural risks. Surveys can identify hidden issues, including structural, electrical, and plumbing problems, which buyers could address before finalising a purchase, potentially saving significant costs.

Countrywide Surveying Services recently hosted a roundtable discussion on this topic, focusing on ways to improve the uptake of condition reports. Industry representatives highlighted the need for clear evidence of the value of surveys and called Property industry must do more to promote home surveys - warningd for increased awareness campaigns, potentially even government support, to drive change.

Nicholas & Co. Surveyors provide a range of RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) home surveys, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of properties at different levels. Their services range from the basic RICS Home Survey - Level 1 to the more comprehensive RICS Home Survey - Level 3, covering everything from general property condition to detailed plumbing, heating, and electrical systems assessments.

Home surveys can provide buyers with essential insights and peace of mind by identifying potential safety hazards, such as asbestos, and offering negotiating power to address any issues before purchase. Consulting with an RICS-accredited surveyor, like those at Nicholas & Co., allows buyers to select the survey level best suited to their property’s needs.

Nicholas Zorpides, Founder of Nicholas & Co. Surveyors, commented, ‘It is integral that home buyers and sellers understand the importance of surveys. We always have our customers’ best interests in mind and are dedicated to helping them identify risks and reduce costs so they can make an informed decision on their future purchase.’

Nicholas & Co. is dedicated to empowering buyers to make confident, informed decisions when purchasing a property, providing them with detailed reports and expert advice. As part of the ongoing push for increased survey awareness, Nicholas & Co. encourages buyers and sellers alike to consider the significant value a home survey brings. We understand that buying a property is an extremely significant investment and we are committed to helping you make informed decisions so you can proceed with confidence.
